Zachary Arthur
King
Apr 24, 1990 — Nov 19, 2023
On the afternoon of November 19th 2023, our beloved Zak King, took his final ride into the sky.
Born Zachary Arthur King in Flint, Michigan to Walter King and Sandra King on April 24th, 1990. As a boy Zak was energetic and loved adventure, often playing outside and riding his bike. At 18 he moved to Illinois and joined the United States National Guard. Soon after graduation he met the woman who would become his wife and love of his life, Erin. Zak and Erin instantly had a connection that would be written in the stars, a love that most search their whole lives for. With Erin came a beautiful 4 year old girl named Avia, that Zak absolutely adored. On August 16th, 2012 Zak took Erin to be his wife at Humiston Woods in Pontiac, Il. At that moment they became united as a family, the 3 of them starting their adventure together in life. On October 30th, 2012 Zak legally adopted Avia and would raise her as she was his own, taking the role of father proudly. In 2016 their family decided it was time for a new adventure and moved to their current residence in Sahuarita, AZ. With this came new beginnings, Avia decided they wanted to start their transition to become Forrest, and Zak provided his love and support, recently gifting Forrest a pocket knife marked "#1 son".
Zak played a lot of roles in his life. Husband, father, brother, nephew, best friend, uncle and son. He could also be known as a Jack of all trades. With his many skills and need to help people, Zak used his traits and compassion to serve his community. He served as a firefighter and EMT, and also as a correctional officer. Most recently he was working as a plumber, which he truly enjoyed. He loved to learn new things and worked hard to be good at whatever he did. Zak had a smile with the cutest dimples, and a personality that honestly, you either loved or you hated. If you were lucky enough to be loved by him, he was the man that would do anything for you. A shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, a couch to move, he was there. He had that loud, red neck, dark sense of humor and a laugh that stands out in a crowd. Truly a one of a kind man. He loved riding his motorcycle, going on adventures, taking trips with his family, and spending time with the people he cared most about.
He will be dearly missed by those that loved him the most. His forever love, his son, and his baby boy Zeus, their sweet dog. The bromance with his best friend Manny, and his brother from another mother Dustin, are bonds that will forever live on. The ones who watched him grow from a boy to a man, and the ones who weren't his family by blood, but by choice.
Zak was preceded in death by his father Walter King, his great uncle Dennis and aunt Dorie Armstrong, whom he loved very much.
A celebration of life will held at a later date in Michigan by the lake where he loved to be.
