Obituary

Wayne James Ahlbrecht of Dassel, MN  age 72 died gently and quickly at his home in Green Valley, AZ on Saturday, March 26th, 2016. He had struggled many years with Parkinson's Disease but is now free from pain and walking briskly in his new home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wayne was born January 1st, 1944 - a New Year's Baby- at Glencoe Hospital in McLeod County, MN. He lived and worked with his parents and sister on the family farm in Buffalo Lake until he left home to attend the University of MN and earn a degree in Agriculture Education. He married Barbara Sass in 1966 and they were blessed with two sons. He taught agriculture and industrial arts  at Cosmos High school four years and later at Dassel-Cokato High School for 30 years,  both in Minnesota. He married Molly La Scotte in 1975. They were married forty years and  were blessed with two daughters.

Wayne enjoyed teaching, gardening, hiking, biking, down hill and cross country skiing, taking students canoeing in the Boundary Waters, camping, family road trips, working with wood in his shop, building things for his home and for his grand kids, watching games and recitals of his grand kids, managing farm accounts and investing money.

He belonged to Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato and enjoyed his Bible Study with church members. His funeral will be Saturday, May 14th at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church, 5939 Oliver St.,Cokato MN. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the service will be at 11:00 followed by lunch at church . In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

He was a loving, gentle, quiet man. We miss him, but are happy for him and look forward to seeing him again. He leaves behind his wife, Molly Ahlbrecht; sons, Mark and Brian (Kris) Ahlbrecht; daughters, Jennifer (Daniel)  Propst, Julie Ahlbrecht; grand children, Lauren and Ethan Ahlbrecht, Estella, Kharis and Lawson Propst ; sister, Connie (Gene) Graczyk; mother in-law, Mary La Scotte; sisters and brothers in-law, Dianne La Scotte, Mark (Carol) La Scotte,  Janine (Joe) Jungbauer, Keith (Ellen) La Scotte,  Renee (Tony) Stice, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Stella Ahlbrecht and his father in-law, Eugene La Scotte.
