Thomas J. Wasil was born in Brooklyn, NY on Mar 9, 1933 and left this world on Dec 13, 2016. He retired as a Correctional Sergeant with the AZ Department of Corrections in 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; their 3 daughters: Donna Schlotterer (Dave);
Diane Biagianti (Michael Rovere); and Debbi Wasil-Pacheco; his brother, James Wasilewski; g randchildren (Mel, Cryssy, Rupert, Bonni, and Dante); and great grandsons.

Tom enjoyed his childhood in Brooklyn.  He had many wonderful stories of Yankees Baseball games, riding the subway to and from the games, and experiencing the 'melting pot" experience of New York.  He loved good Polish food - pierogies, knishes, limburger cheese, etc.  There was nothing that he liked better than having Bapka Bread on Easter Sunday!  From Brooklyn, he and his family moved to Helmetta, New Jersey where he met and married Joyce Palmer in September, 1959.  Prior to getting married, he served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as a Weatherman.  He loved that experience and spoke often of his time served overseas in Cuba and other locations.

Tom and Joyce had 3 daughters and they lived in Helmetta, NJ until 1974 when they moved to Tucson, Arizona.  While in Helmetta, Tom was a foreman at Schweitzer's (where they made gel capsules) and he did some part time construction with his brother in law, Ralph Palmer.  When they moved to Tucson, AZ, Tom worked in Law Enforcement - first in the Sherriff's Department and then in Department of Corrections - Tucson Facility.  He retired from AZ Department of Corrections in 1993 and spend the remainder of his life traveling and camping with family and friends.  He never tired of taking long trips and spending time outdoors.
