Thomas William "Tom" Lugo, 85, passed away at his Green Valley home on April 11, 2017.  Born March 7, 1932, in Santa Monica, CA to Esperanza Ceseña and José María Cayetano Lugo, Tom is survived by his wife, the former Doris Ann Hanlon, with whom he was blessed in marriage for over 57 years.

Other survivors include daughter Susan Laura Lugo (George Dudley) of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, brother José María Lugo (Theresa) of Sahuarita, AZ, grandchildren Beryl Dudley Stephen (Oren) of Orlando, FL, and Benjamin J. Dudley of Plymouth, MA, great-grandchildren Trinley Thomas Dudley and Zyana Delores Alisan Stephen, and many generations of loving nieces and nephews.

Tom graduated from Santa Monica High School, and studied industrial relations at Loyola University.

After serving four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War (principally on assignment at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson), Tom spent 38 years in Southern California in a variety of managerial positions with General Telephone & Electronics (now known as Verizon).  Subsequently Tom and Doris both retired early and moved from their home in Manhattan Beach, CA to Silver City, NM for over 15 years before settling in Green Valley in 2013.  An avid reader and an accomplished athlete, Tom was a lifelong sports fan, especially enjoying baseball, golf, and ocean and lake fishing.

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, prayers for the repose of his soul will be included at the 8:00 a.m. weekday Mass at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 505 La Cañada Drive, Green Valley, AZ.

A graveside service and interment will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made in Tom's name to a favorite charity.
