Susan Elaine Gobble Hill passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 83.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 29, 1942, Susan grew up in Missouri and New Jersey. In June 1964, after obtaining her bachelor's degree from Wilson College, she married her high school sweetheart Richard Hill. Rich was her partner in life and faith, and they were together until his passing last December.

In 1987, Susan was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church; she went on to spend most of her professional life serving as a minister. Her work reflected her deep faith, compassion, and unwavering commitment to community and service. She touched many lives through her ministry, offering guidance, comfort, and wisdom to those she served.

Susan found joy in many things—books, knitting, gardening, and volunteering her time to causes she believed in.  She volunteered for the Tucson Museum of Arts, the Sahuarita Food Bank and Resource center, and the Sahuarita Samaritans.  Over the years, she was also a guest preacher at the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ.  One of her favorite things was gathering around the table to play games with those she loved. Her presence was steady, kind, and quietly powerful.

She was a proud mother to four daughters: Gretchen Hill (Jeremy Terry), Betsy Hill-Raymond (David Raymond), Barbara Sitts (Joe Sitts), and Courtney Hill (Kelly Wilkerson), and was a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren: Austin Furner (10/25/1997 – 8/19/2024), Brayton Furner (Kim Furner), Charly Raymond, Peyton Wilkerson, Bree Wilkerson, and Alison Raymond. She was also delighted to have five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Susan's life will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, July 17, in the Eldorado Room in La Perla at La Posada in Green Valley, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in her memory to a favorite charity.

Susan will be remembered for her generous spirit, her quiet strength, and the grace with which she lived and led. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family who adored her.
