Shirley R. Cameron, most recently of Green Valley, AZ, passed away July 13, 2018, at the age of 90.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Janet; son Jeff (Terry); grandson Jason; and two great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her son James.

Shirley lived much of her life in San Diego, CA, where she raised her children and worked in foreign student admissions for the California state college and university systems.  After retirement, she moved to the Eugene, OR area.  After many years dividing her time between Eugene and Green Valley, she recently moved to Green Valley.

Shirley enjoyed camping with her children and grandchildren.  After retiring, travelling to foreign countries to learn about other cultures brought her great enjoyment.  She travelled frequently to Mexico and South America with her friends; travelled to Europe; and recently travelled to Cuba, which was on her bucket list.

Shirley was passionate about protecting the environment and helping people less fortunate.  She was a member of and supported organizations involved in those causes, including the Audubon Society, World Wildlife Fund, Oxfam, Sonoran Sisters, League of Women Voters, Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs, Green Valley-Sahuarita Samaritans, and many others.  She was an active Unitarian Universalist member, attending the Eugene congregation and serving as a board member for the Amado, AZ congregation.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Amada UU congregation in early 2019, a time  when many of her friends will have returned to Green Valley.  Shirley's passing was handled by Green Valley Mortuary and her ashes will be scattered by family at locations she loved.

In honor of Shirley's passion for helping the less fortunate, memorial donations may be made to Save the Redwoods, World Wildlife Fund, Oxfam, or an environmental preservation, social justice, or community food bank in your area.
