April 4th, 1940 - August 23rd, 2019

Ronald Ray Shickel passed away peacefully Friday August 23rd, 2019 at the age of 79.

Ron was born on April 4th, 1940 in Normal, IL to Ray and Donna Shickel. As a young boy, Ron moved to Tucson, AZ with his father. At the age of 17, Ron enlisted in the Navy where he became an electrician. Ron left the Navy after nearly 10 years of service and returned to Tucson, where he obtained his electrical contractors license, allowing him to own and operate his company R&M Electric. Ron operated R&M until the age of 76.

Ron followed his passion of being on the water by sailing the waters of Mexico. Ron also achieved his dream of becoming a pilot and after receiving his license Ron hit the sky. Among His favorite places to explore, his favorite destination was the Grand Canyon. Much like nature is the giver of countless memories, Ron too had a giving spirit. Ron was the kind of guy that would rather give than receive. When someone refers to another as "They would give you the shirt off their back" the first person that comes to mind is Ron, that's just the kind of man he was.

Ron is survived by his sister, Beverly Hollingsworth, brother David McKinney, his five children; Michael Shickel (Matt Fusilier), Craig Shickel, Wendy Huber (Ken Huber), Julie Makin (John Makin), Scott Shickel, and eight grandchildren. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Friday, September 6th at 10am located at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Marana 15950 N. Luckett Rd. Marana, AZ 85653, Followed by a memorial lunch at Marana Heritage Park 12375 N. Heritage Park Dr. Marana, AZ 85653.
