Obituary

Roger Barrett Henry passed on May 3, 2025 in his home in Arizona, encircled by loved ones including Jill, his best friend and wife of 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Florence Henry, brother Fred, and his daughter Sue. He is survived by his wife, Jill; children, Trina, Laurie, Becky, Russell, and April, and his brother Bill, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Roger grew up in Illinois, surrounded by a close-knit extended family. His professional life started as an electrician at International Harvester for 16 years, then he continued his career for 19 years at AT&T Bell Labs. After a life-changing accident at age 41 left him a paraplegic, Roger continued his education and became a project manager. Post retirement, Roger and Jill moved to Arizona where they enjoyed meeting new friends, volunteering in their community and being active in their church.

Roger lived a long and meaningful life marked by strength, kindness, and unwavering integrity. His life was a soundtrack, from the country ballads his parents sang, to rock and roll classics and the gospel hymns he enjoyed every evening.  He could call to mind lyrics for every occasion and sang us songs until the very end. He had many interests in his life—horses, hunting, cars, motorcycles, genealogy, playing guitar—and wherever he went, he made lasting friendships. To know him was to love him. We will miss him profoundly.

We'll build a sweet little nest somewhere in the west
And let the rest of the world go by
