Robert Charles Maple passed quite suddenly from this life to the next on March 7th, 2026.

Born on July 7th, 1947, he was the son of Earl and Barbara Maple, of Whittier, California.

He spent his childhood through high school in Whittier, going to La Serna High School, playing water polo and cementing lifelong relationships. He went to Pomona College in Pomona, after which he was "invited" to join the Army. He married his first wife, Marcia, at that time, and then was stationed in Panama and learned much about the country. After a brief stint in Washington State, and divorcing his wife, he went to work at his father's company, Maple Bros., and started the branch in Phoenix,AZ. Questioning whether he belonged in the wood moulding business, he took time off to travel to Central America in his beloved Land Rover, "Lucille".

Coming home, he went back to working for Maple Bros. in Brea, CA. At that time, he became re-acquainted with his childhood neighbor, Pamela, and they hit it off like kids in a candy store. They married on Feb.11th, 1978, and built a life of 48 years together.

Rob was quite athletic, and besides water polo, loved skiing, surfing, golfing and SAILING! He was pretty self sufficient, having been taught by his Dad how to fix just about anything, so a lot of his time was spent being Mr. Fix-it.

In 1979, he joined the NSDJA, a trade organization in which he eventually became president, and both he and Pamela made life long friends. Maple Bros. was sold in 1993 and he moved to Albuquerque, where he co-owned a wood mill business, Wood Moulding Specialties. From there to Salt Lake City to join Western Lumber, where he was given freedom to live with his mother in Newport Beach, so they could care for her. Then they moved to Lake Almanor to care for Pam's mother. He started a business there called Maple's Master Millwork, but when the economy took a dive in 2008, they had to sell their newly built house, and followed their son and his family down to Southern California, where they had a house in Ramona and began renovation projects there. Rob always had a dream of going back to Panama to live, and so they began exploring that idea, making 2 trips there, but Pamela could not fathom being that far from her grandkids, so they decided to move to Arizona instead!

Rob had lived in Tucson earlier in his life, so they decided to look in that area and found a house and a church they came to love. His last years were spent in Green Valley,AZ, where he grew in and became very passionate about his faith. He also had an opportunity to promote his "baby"; software he called "Mill King" that he built when he was with Wood Moulding Specialties. He went to work for Woodware as a consultant, hoping to integrate his software with theirs. He was never able to see his dream to completion. He died suddenly of heart failure on Saturday, March 7th, 2026.

He is pre-deceased by his mother, Barbara Dawson Maple, his father, Earl Woods Maple, his brothers Thomas Hadley, and Timothy James Maple Surviving Rob is his wife, Pamela VanFleet Maple, his son, Adam DuBois Maple, his step-daughter, Shannon Leigh Maple, his sister, Melanie Maple Strahan, and his brother Earl Christopher Maple.

There will be a service of remembrance on April 10th, at 2:00pm, at the Rock Church of Sahuarita.
