Richard Eugene English died peacefully at home September 20, 2022. Dick was born January 28, 1931 in North Wildwood New Jersey. He is preceded in death by father Eugene, mother Irene, step-father Nelson Chester, brothers James and Walter, and wives Beverly and Rueth. He is survived by wife Sharane, sons Jack, Brian, and Barry, daughter Jo Ann, grandchildren James English, Katherine Daniels, and Thomas Spahr, and great grandchildren Roland and Lyra English, and Kaleia Daniels, and a host of other relatives.

Dick spent most of his childhood on Eldora N. J. He and his brothers spent each morning working with Nelson Chester. They did everything to get milk out of the cows and delivered to customers in bottles. Dick attended schools and graduated from Middle Township High School in 1948. He was active in Eldora Methodist Church and reach eagle scout in troop 60, Denville N. J. He was the New Jersey state secretary of the Key Club in 1947.

In 1948 Dick entered Trenton State University. There he met Beverly Beyer. The Korean War led him to enlist in the Air Force. He married Beverly August 24, 1952. He spent the rest of his enlistment in Biloxi Mississippi teaching air traffic control. Dick completed his final year at Trenton State and began a long career teaching elementary school.

He settled his family in Liberty Corner N. J. and was deeply involved in the community for over 30 years. He taught at Bernards Township schools from 1955 to 1987, and because of that steady stream of students, seemed to know everyone. He was equally involved in Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, holding many roles including deacon and elder. His strong character, willingness to work hard and quiet faith has a powerful positive impact on his children, students, and the community. He helped organize the local girls' softball league, and became highly involved in the County Republican Committee, serving as chairman from 1976-80. He loved history, geography, and travel. The school calendar left him free for the month of August, so that month was reserved for family camping adventures. Though he led the family many places Arizona was his favorite.

He was always more concerned with his family than himself. He considered his two guilty pleasures to be subscription to a copy of the Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer, and a regular supply of Hershey's ice cream.  His selflessness was never more obvious than while he nursed two wives through long terminal illnesses.

In 1989 Dick moved to Green Valley Arizona and adopted his usual lifestyle in his favorite place. He and Rueth attended church regularly and got involved in many ways. Rueth was highly recognizable in her wheel chair and Sharane  frequently visited with them.  A few years after Rueth's death, Dick began to see Sharane more regularly.  The great joy it brought him left no doubt that they would get married.  The church choir hosted their engagement party and a huge crowd of church members celebrated their wedding.  Sharane brought a whole new group of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who they greatly enjoyed. They were able to take many dream trips together, sometimes with family members as well.

A celebration of life is planned on February 21 st 2023 at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery with Interment to follow.  In lieu of flowers those who wish to may contribute to the Evangelical Free Church of Green Valley 1393 W.
