Roland DeWaine "Skip" Roush, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2017 in Green Valley, Arizona, with his children by his side. Skip was born in Lima, Ohio, the son of Joseph N. and Vivian B. Roush and grandson of Clinton F. Roush and Lillian May. He was predeceased by his loving wife, the late Mary H. Roush in 2012, to whom he was married for 61 years, and his oldest daughter, the late Karen Roush in 2005. Left to mourn his passing are daughters Kathy Myatt (Alan) of Colorado Springs, CO, Kristin (DD Boone) of Albuquerque, NM, Kimberly (Jeanne Gottschalk) of Santa Fe, NM, Kay Hosford (Ricky) of Columbia, TN and son, Michael of Los Angeles, CA. Skip also deeply cherished his grandchildren, Carrie Myatt of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Thomas Roush of Los Angeles, CA, and Katherine Roush of Los Angeles, CA.

Skip was a graduate of Lima South High School in Lima, Ohio, Class of 1946. He was a standout athlete there in basketball and football and an all-around popular guy. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and completed degree work at Ohio State University. In college he joined the Air Force ROTC, and, upon graduation, went on to serve our country, attaining the rank of Air Force Captain with the Strategic Air Command (SAC) during the post-World War II years and, specifically, piloting B-29 aircraft. Skip and his young family were stationed at military bases across the country until Skip decided to retire from the service, returning to school and receiving a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

While working in Michigan, he was recognized by J.W. Marriott, Sr. as a rising talent, and Skip began to work with Marriott Hotels at its properties in Washington, D.C. Such began a highly-regarded, over 30-year career in hotel management with the Marriott Corporation, becoming General Manager of Marriott Hotels in Philadelphia, St. Louis, and Denver, as well as tasked with responsibilities in opening properties all around the country.

Skip and Mary spent wonderful years together while living in Green Valley, traveling around the world and enjoying their children and grandchildren. He had an infectious laugh and a great way with the storytelling of his past, including his reminiscences as a boy growing up in Ohio, his summers as a lifeguard at Lakeside Resort on Lake Erie and meeting and marrying his beautiful Mary who he so deeply loved. His well of memories was rich and deep, demonstrating his appreciation for detail and gratitude for all good things.
