Peter (Pete) Lis died on December 4th in Tucson, Arizona after a short illness. His wife Carol, brother-in-law Alan and sister-in-law Linda were by his side.

Pete is survived by his wife Carol; his sister Nancy Holland, her husband Gary and their son David of Ridgefield, Connecticut; sister-in-law Linda Goselin and her husband Alan Pellerin of Green Valley, Arizona and numerous cousins in Connecticut, Florida and Massachusetts. He was pre-deceased by his father Paul Leon Lis and his mother Stella Penkowski Lis.

Pete was born in Waterbury, Connecticut but spent most of his life in Bristol, Connecticut before retiring to Green Valley, Arizona in 2011. He graduated from Bristol Eastern High School where he was a member of the cross country and varsity basketball teams. He graduated from Quinnipiac University in 1971 after three years in the Army. While in the Army he was a well-known radio broadcaster in the American Forces Radio and Television Network, both in Korea and Georgia.

He was the news and sports director at WBIS radio station in Bristol, Connecticut for many years, which included broadcasting high school football and baseball games for local audiences. During the summer he broadcast American Legion home and away baseball games and was the public address announcer for the Red Sox's Double A team in Bristol. He was later the news director at WRCH/WRCQ radio station in Farmington, Connecticut.

After 27 years in radio, Pete decided to become a travel agent. He worked for the American Express Corporate Travel division on location at The Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut for many years. He and Carol enjoyed vacationing in Arizona, Aruba, Bermuda, California, Florida, France, New Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands during these years. After retirement in 2001, he worked as a funeral assistant at the Bailey Funeral Home in Plainville, Connecticut.

After moving to Green Valley, Arizona, Pete and Carol vacationed in Alaska, California, Hawaii and Oregon. They also cruised the Mediterranean, the Danube River and the Seine River.

Pete was an active golfer, a member of the GVR AmigOs Mens Club and past-president of the GVR New England Club.

A memorial service was held on December 13th at the Green Valley Mortuary for family and close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in Arizona in January 2019.
