Pauline Louise Bland was born March 6, 1946 in Linton, Indiana to parents Opal and Daniel Kirkley.  She had five siblings and was survived by three.

On April 30, 1966 Pauline married David and he referred to her as "The Love of my Life".   Pauline became a hairdresser in 1967 before having children.  She started a Hair Salon in Pittsboro, Indiana named Hairstyle Palace. They had three children together and were very involved in their sports and school activities.

In 1982, they moved the family to Tucson, Arizona for a fresh start and to be near her sister and her family.  She opened up a Hair Salon and started doing what she loved.  She eventually moved her salon to a new location in town and built up a following of regular customers.  Eventually she grew tired of managing the business side and sold the salon but continued to work there.  She was able to do hair without the stresses of payroll, taxes, etc.

Pauline retired shortly after her first grandchild was born in 2002.  She enjoyed going to antique stores along with her husband and they rented a booth in an antique store for a short time.  They both really enjoyed doing that together and did some traveling for it.  They also took classes at the Community College to learn how to do stained glass and worked on projects together.  It ended up being something they both enjoyed.

During her retirement, Pauline decided to go back to work part time to get out of the house and have something else to do.  She was a greeter in a restaurant at one of the golf resorts in Green Valley.  She enjoyed working again and liked being around people.  She chose to not work there for very long because of management.

Pauline was invited to a Girls Night Out with her daughter and continued to go every month.  The group of ladies is women her daughter met while on the committee for the Race for the Cure.  Pauline was a 25-year Breast Cancer Survivor and participated in several of the walks.  These women became friends of Pauline's and she really enjoyed getting together with them.

In 2016 they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary surrounded by their children and five grandchildren.  They didn't want a party where they wouldn't be able to visit with everyone and instead asked to just do something nice with the immediate family.  In June of the same year David was hospitalized and passed away on August 30th after a two month fight.  While planning his service, Pauline was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and the family was devastated.  She prayed for a good year with her kids and grandchildren and spent a lot of quality family time together.  The family painted ceramics, went to the orchard, went to a ghost town, went to a farm, had a surprise picnic in Madera Canyon, took a short trip to visit family, had a sleepover, and had lots of potlucks and much more.

Pauline was very talented in many areas.  She was good at basket weaving, crocheting, drawing, painting, ceramics, floral arrangements, painting ceramic tiles, stained glass and she even made fruit baskets out of watermelon.  She was good at anything she tried and came up with the most creative ideas.

Family always came first and she was happiest when spending time together.  It didn't matter what the plans were as long as they were together.
