Patricia "Gale" Mack (Deason), age 87, of St. Charles, IL, passed away on March 17th ,at her winter home in Green Valley, AZ.

Gale was born in Quantico, VA, on September 28, 1938 to her parents, Alvin J. Deason and Willie "Claudell" Deason (Ratliff). Her father served in the US Marine Corps. Their family moved often. She was a 1956 graduate of Norview High School, Norfolk, VA. She earned a Physical Education degree at the Norfolk campus of the College of William & Mary, and taught P.E. for a year.

On June 24, 1961, Gale married David Mack, in Norfolk, VA, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. They lived in several states before settling in St. Charles, IL, in 1969.

Gale's life "career" was that of a wife and mother. While raising her four children, Gale volunteered as a Den Leader for her son's Cub Scout Pack and continued volunteering for many years, in various roles, for the Boy Scouts of America. She drove her daughter's cheerleading squad to many events. The family joined the Congregational U.C.C. Church of St. Charles, IL, where Gale loved to sing and help with musicals. Gale was the co-owner of a small business called Bathtique, in Elgin, IL. She also worked part-time, in the attendance office, at St. Charles High School, and at Walden Books. Once her children were grown, she was a member of the St. Charles Kiwyuanis Club. Gale was an avid reader, a lover of Southern Gospel Music, and cats, especially Siamese cats. She was well known for her creativity making decorated cakes, Halloween costumes and beautiful quilts.

Gale's love of her grandchildren showed in every moment they were together. She loved reading and singing to them when they were young. She treasured the shared times with them on holidays and family vacations. They will deeply miss their Grandmother. Gale will be remembered for her cooking, her art of storytelling, her charismatic personality and her ability to make people laugh.
