Obituary

Pamela Jean (Skogerson) Peake, age 85, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on June 13, in Green Valley, Arizona.

Pam was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Gustav and Mary Skogerson. Her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she graduated high school and attended Colorado State University.

Pam met Michael Peake in Denver, Colorado, in 1961. They married on December 29, 1962. The couple lived in Lakewood, Colorado, where they welcomed their three children. They moved to the mountains in Conifer, Colorado, into a house they built together in The Homestead.

The family moved to Radcliff, Kentucky, in 1979, where Pam was active in her church and community and served as the executive director of the Radcliff Chamber of Commerce. After their children were in college, Pam and Mike moved back to Colorado, where they lived until moving to Paris, Tennessee, and then back to Evergreen, Colorado. They moved to Quail Creek in Green Valley in 2005.

Pam was a devoted wife and mother and a beloved grandmother and aunt. She was talented in myriad ways. She loved the mountains and the ocean, traveling with Mike, and music of all genres. She was an excellent quilter, an enthusiastic member of multiple choral groups, an organist, a member of P.E.O. International, a deacon, and a Stephen Minister. Pam was a phenomenal cook and hostess, and she loved to entertain and enjoy her friends. Everywhere Pam lived, she created and strengthened community and brought people together.

Pam is survived by Mike, her husband of 63 years; her daughter Devon Peake and husband Bruce Herman; her daughter Andrea Alter and husband Peter Alter; her son Brian Peake and wife Sonja Peake; and three grandchildren, Ethan Alter, Lillian Alter, and Tyler Peake. She is also survived by her brother Lawrence Skogerson and wife Lois as well as many nieces and nephews, including Martin and Gail Bischoff; Kimberly Bischoff; Stephanie and Mike Casey; Randy and Kathy Fischer; Debbe and Mike Weidler; Charlene and Ben Speed; Gretchen Skogerson; Kirsten Skogerson; Dirk and Sonja Skogerson and their children Dunkan, Nora, and Olivia; Christopher and Heather Day and their daughter, Cassandra; Heather Vidlock and her children, Emily, Kaitlin, and Garrett; Erin Grogan; Brian Grogan and Jennifer Conley and their daughter, McKenna; and James Cook and his daughters, Jennifer and Amy.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S. Camino Del Sol, Green Valley, AZ 85622. A celebration of life is being planned for later in the year in Colorado.

Throughout her life, Pam loved cats and dogs, especially labrador retrievers. Donations in her name can be made to the Animal League of Green Valley.
