Obituary

Mary P. MacDowell, age 81, of Green Valley, Arizona passed away on June 8, 2025 at Haven Health Green Valley.  A memorial service will be held at the Marana Veterans Cemetery in Marana, Arizona, on October 24, 2025 at 10 am with a celebration of life to follow.  Thank you.

Mary Patricia (Mead) MacDowell was born on May 27, 1944 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to G. William and Cecelia F. (Goelz) Mead.  She was the second of 10 children.  Mary was a 1962 graduate of Hector High School, in Hector, Minnesota.

Mary was married to Terry L. MacDowell for 53 years.  In search of a warmer climate, they and their four children moved to New Mexico in 1976. Mary and Terry later moved to Mississippi, and eventually made their way to Southern Arizona, where they retired.

Mary worked for the Daily Times in Farmington, New Mexico for 15 years where she became production superintendent.  Later, she worked as a medical transcriptionist for various medical facilities.  Mary was an avid reader who loved listening to music and finding treasures at estate sales. She also enjoyed warm weather, Arizona sunsets, and watching the birds in her back yard.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Terry L. MacDowell, parents G. William Mead and Cecilia F. (Goelz) Mead, brother Jerome, sister Margaret Swanson, and nephews Jason Bruns, and Lee, Jeffrey, and Kurt Swanson.

Mary is survived in death by her loving family: children Susan Cater of Green Valley, AZ, Daniel Weyrauch of Bloomfield, NM,  Melissa MacDowell of Green Valley, AZ, and Brenna MacDowell (Timothy Skehan) of Southwick, MA; grandchildren Brandon Baugh, Christopher (Stephanie) Baugh, Sean Cater, Cole Cater, Nick (Anneliese) Weyrauch, Mario (Kaycee) Weyrauch, Olivia Murray, Caden Rogers and Quinn Skehan; great grandchildren Aryanna Baugh, Ian Baugh, Aria Baugh, Maverick Baugh, Peyton Baugh, Klaus Weyrauch, Milli Rose Weyrauch,  and Hallee Weyrauch; siblings Richard Mead (Linda), Juanita Bruns (Lenny),  Janet Kohls (Stephan), Luci Tellers (Bert), James Mead, Jeanne Buckentin (Chuck), and Julie Mesenbring (Dean); nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
