Mark Edward Logan passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at his home on April 13, 2025. His sudden passing has left his family and friends heartbroken.

Born on February 27, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, Mark's early years were spent across the West and Midwest before his family settled in Park Forest, Illinois, where he attended Rich Central High School. A gifted athlete, Mark earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track, graduating in 1967.

He went on to attend Indiana State University where he met the love of his life, Debra (Bailey). They married in 1970 and shared 54 beautiful years together.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Debra; his sons, Jeffrey (Eileen) and Michael; and his five adored grandchildren: Margaret, Michael, Sydney, Brody, and Reese. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother Michael (Barbara), their children Brent, Matthew, Brooke, Jeromy, and Nicholas; his sister-in-law Joan Himmel (late husband Larry), and their son Miles (Kristin).

He was predeceased by his parents, Buddy and Roberta (Olson) Logan, and his in-laws, William and Betty (Barnett) Bailey.

Following graduation, Mark built a distinguished career in the transportation industry, starting in the railroad sector like his father and brother. Eventually, Mark transitioned into maritime transportation, concluding his career with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), where he retired in 2016. He was extremely proud to be a MSC employee.

In retirement, Mark and Debra settled in Green Valley, Arizona, where he embraced the desert lifestyle and filled his days with travel, adventure, and family visits. He especially enjoyed cruises through the Caribbean, Alaska, and Europe; road trips to national and state parks; and memorable visits to Italy.

Mark volunteered with many organizations, serving as a baseball coach and manager for Saticoy and Naperville Little Leagues, and as club president for both Conejo Southern California Hockey Club and Naperville North Hockey Club.  He also served on multiple committees for AHAI (Amateur Hockey Association Illinois).

A devoted father, Mark found immense joy in coaching and watching his sons play sports, sharing post-game pizza, and bonding over their mutual love for the Cubs, Blackhawks, and Bears. One of his most treasured moments was celebrating his 75th birthday in Arizona, surprised by his sons and grandson Brody.

His greatest pride came from his grandchildren, whose lives he followed with love and pride—cheering them on at games and events, cherishing holidays, and welcoming them to Arizona with open arms.

The Logan family extends deep gratitude to the neighbors and friends who were there for us on the afternoon of his passing and the days following. A heartfelt thank you as well to the Santa Rita Fire District and police officers from Sahuarita who responded with compassion and care.

A celebration of Mark's life will be announced at a later date, with gatherings planned in both Green Valley, AZ and Naperville, IL.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
