Lois Ann Kline arrived in the ob-gyn ward of Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, IL, on September 28, 1950. The firstborn of her delighted parents Irene and Ralph, she claimed the place as the precious newborn blonde baby girl.

Adventurous and curious, Lois grew up in a new post-WWII neighborhood at 95th & Cicero (Oak Lawn) in greater Chicagoland. She devoured books, drew constantly, was frightened of spiders but loved garter snakes. Some of her weekly allowance of twenty-five cents went towards DC Comics—Superman and Wonder Woman. A natural and gifted artist, she took classes at the Art Institute of Chicago and spent many hours there. Climbing the stately, elegant stairs at the Art Institute, Lois and her sister, Robin, imagined being daughters of a rich man, living in this mansion. She enjoyed downtown Chicago, Kroch's & Brentano's bookstore on Wabash, and Berghoff,'s, a storied German restaurant with two locations in The Loop. Impressed with  the European waiters there, she ordered wiener schnitzel and Linzer Torte. Her childhood was informed by the museums, cultures and neighborhoods of Chicago.

In 1962 at the age of 12, Lois was diagnosed with the hereditary Juvenile (Type I) diabetes. With much support she navigated this lifelong journey. When the family moved to Glen Ellyn in 1964, Lois entered high school as a newcomer, and found her place with literary, dramatic arts, language- loving and artsy friends. She enjoyed making elaborate gingerbread houses for the holidays, loved Christmas and dressing up. Lois' requested menu for her birthday dinner included garlic-and-herbed leg of lamb, rice pilaf and pumpkin pie. She had a taste for blue cheese, maple sugar candy, and her daddy's exquisite homemade ice cream.

Moving to the Southwest in 1976 opened new vistas for Lois, who immersed herself in Indian and Southwestern culture and arts. She honed her artistic path with stones, beads and metal, creating stunning wearable art. An enthusiastic member of the Bead Society and Heard Museum, Lois made many important and lifelong friends through the arts. A film buff, she leaned towards foreign films, films now referred to as indies, and introduced her friends to a variety of appetites in the arts.

Lois married Mike Norman in 1982; he died earlier this year.

Lois was a dedicated volunteer for the Democratic party of Pima County, and a member of XXX United Methodist Church in Green Valley. Lois is survived by friends who love and miss her, Cynthia Beach (Mesa, AZ) and Wendy Wyman (Phoenix) among many others, and her sister Robin Kline, (William Summers) Des Moines, IA, cousins Sue Kuethe (Dave Stelck), Calgary, AB, Sharon Hilst, Steven (Tracy) Kuethe, Denver, and Sandi Jo (Brian) Arthur, Los Angeles, aunt and uncle Melvin and Juanita Kuethe, Denver. Stepson Jason Norman (Gwen) and family, Vermont, mourn Lois' death.
