Obituary

Lois French Alexander died on May 13, 2024, at her residence in Green Valley Arizona, at the age of 93. She is survived by her three daughters: Nikki Alexander, Barrett Alexander and Casey Southard, as well as two grandchildren, Kendall and Alex Reicherter, and two great grandchildren, Genevieve and Ethan Reicherter. She also leaves behind her three devoted sons-in-law: Derek Reicherter, John Gilliss and Bruce Southard.

Lois was born in 1930 in Pullman, Washington, the third of four children of Irving and Marjorie French. She graduated from Western Washington State College with a degree in education. In addition to teaching, Lois was a painter, illustrator and
commercial artist who developed award-winning advertising campaigns. She married Allen (Nick) Alexander in 1951 and after moving to Oregon, Arizona and California, settled on Long Island, NY, where they raised their three girls in Garden City. Lois worked as secretary to the Dean of Adelphi University where she simultaneously earned her MFA. An outstanding lifelong artist, she was granted two one-woman shows at the Adelphi galleries.

Lois retired to Green Valley, Arizona, where she was able to concentrate on her love of the arts as an active member of the Santa Rita Art League and a valued participant at the Woodworkers Club, painting and sewing toys for charity. When she was 88, Lois' artwork was displayed in a one-woman show at a Green Valley gallery. The show, titled "Candid Canvas," was a collection of paintings depicting the life of her fellow Green Valley seniors with humor and empathy. It was a great success within the community.

Lois lived her life with creativity, humor and intelligence. She was and continues to be a great inspiration to her family and friends.
