MACLEOD (Hoyles), Linda (Elaine)
Age 69, Green Valley, Arizona, passed peacefully at home, in the arms or her loving husband,
Ian MacLeod on December 19, 2022. Elaine was born on March 9,1953 in Brookfield Cottage
Hospital in Brookfield, Newfoundland, while a snowstorm raged outside. She was "Daddy's Little
Fortune". They lived in Valleyfield, NL and St. John's, NL where she attended Prince of Wales
Collegiate and later College of the North Atlantic for Legal Office Administration.
Ian and Elaine moved in 2004 from NL to the USA and lived in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Iowa,
and Texas before finding their current home in Arizona. Elaine was an avid golfer, bedtime
reader, music lover, hard worker, crafter, sketch artist, fantastic cook, and most of all, a loving
wife, daughter, mother, sister, niece and aunt. She has worn many hats, working as a legal
office administrator, personal assistant, cook, caterer, and bartender. Her joy of life and
indomitable spirit helped her fight her cancer for as long as she was able.
In addition to her husband Ian, Elaine is survived by her mother Viorene Hoyles, sister Holly
(Kevin), son Paul (Carolyn), daughter Lori, son Jamie, grandsons Justin, Mason, and Aidan,
step-daughters Karly and Abby, special cousin Deanna and many nieces, nephews and
cousins. She is predeceased by her father Clifton Hoyles and brothers Raymond (Monica) and
Herman (Geraldine).
While Elaine's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Elaine in a way that
honours her spirit. Arrangements have been made by Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery,
located in Sahuarita, AZ at 18751 S La Canada Dr. Visitation is from 10am-12noon on Friday,
December 23rd, 2022 followed by a celebration of life service at 12 noon. Cremation to follow.
