Katharine Ray (Groom) McLaughlin-Barnes, 54, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away on January 31st , 2025, unexpectedly. Katharine was born January 8th , 1971, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was the daughter of James William "Bill" and Shirley Diane (Grier) Groom. She graduated from Oak Park High School in 1989, then went on to Pueblo Community College where she graduated with her Associates in Radiology Studies in 2010. Katharine married David Barnes on September 1st , 2002, in Pueblo, Colorado. They lived many places including Colorado, Ohio, Wyoming, and Louisiana before settling in Green Valley, Arizona. Katharine has two wonderful children, Karina McLaughlin and Weston Barnes, whom she loved very much. She was also a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She always welcomed others with open arms and made them feel appreciated. Katharine's most notable hobby was cooking. She loved to cook, especially for her family. There are no words to describe how good the food she made was. Katharine had the most beautiful laugh and smile and gave the best hugs one could get. She will be missed dearly by all her friends and family. Those remaining to cherish Katharine's memory are her husband, David Barnes; children, Karina McLaughlin and Weston Barnes; Stepdaughter, Tesia Barnes; Mother, Diane Groom; Sister, Lynsey Richardi; Niece, Madaline Angel; Nephew, William Richardi and Jaden Richardi; Brother-in-law, Jamey Richardi and Brian Barnes; Sister-in-law; Linda Hunter; mother-in-law, Marian Barnes; and lots of extended family. Katharine is preceded in death by her father, James William "Bill" Groom.
