Jun 30, 1925 — Jan 27, 2018
JoAnn Zae McGee Tate Bell
30 June 1925 – 27 January 2018
JoAnn was born in Tucson, Arizona, to Empy and Mamie McGee. She lived her life primarily on the McGee Ranch (20 miles west of Green Valley, Arizona) with her four siblings. Their lives were rich, filled with love, and the many challenges of a pioneer lifestyle. JoAnn graduated from Tucson High School in 1943. She and her first husband, Harold Tate had eight children. She was a loving Mother, spending many years supporting her children's sports and activities at the Sahuarita Schools.
JoAnn's smile and friendly greeting was routine when she worked at the Country Club of Green Valley, La Esquinita Coffee Shop, and the Copper Quail Restaurant. She was also a devoted member of the LDS Church, serving three full-time missions in Ohio, West Virginia, and in Lima Peru with her husband Gale Bell. JoAnn loved playing the violin, singing, painting, and writing poetry. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love and service lives on in her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gale Bell, children Chris Miros (Bill), McGee Ranch; Debby Fox (Kelly), McGee Ranch; Jeff Tate (Karen), Phoenix; Craig Tate (Marie), Mesa; Cindy Sitton (Regan), Mesa; Ross Tate (LaRae), Phoenix; Lisa Johansen (Kent), Chandler; and Tana Leander (Peter), Big Fork, Montana. She is also survived by: stepsons Ted Bell, Jeff Bell, Matt Bell, and Scott Bell; 33 grandchildren, and 61 great-grandchildren. Her parents and her brother, Norman McGee, precede her in death.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Meetinghouse, 17699 S Camino De Las Quintas, Sahuarita, Arizona, 85629. Friends may visit with the family at a viewing prior to the funeral, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
Interment will be at the McGee Ranch Cemetery.
