Jerome W. Didier   1931 - 2016

Jerome passed away peacefully at home in Green Valley, AZ on September 18, 2016 from cancer. He was a former resident of Long Grove and McHenry, IL.  He was blessed to have had two wonderful women in his life. His first wife, Patricia, preceded him in death after 56 years of marriage. He is survived by his second wife, Sandra, who gave him tremendous joy in his later years.

He was a great father and husband. He is survived by his four daughters, Debby (Steve) Bauer, Sandra Dose, Bev (Rick) Shumate, and Terri (Joe) van der Gracht; 2 stepchildren, Laurie (Ron) Zelinsky and Michel Nank; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 4 of his brothers and sisters.

Jerome is one of 14 children born to Emma and Aloysius Didier. He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 of his brothers and sisters, and his Son-in-law, Tim Dose.

Jerome joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. He spent the majority of his life building custom homes through his company, Didier Builders. He was a licensed pilot and loved to fly. Hunting, fishing and golf were his passions. He was a Lieutenant with the Long Grove Fire Dept.   He served as a volunteer fireman, paramedic, and on the Underwater Search and Rescue Squad for over 17 years. He was always an active member of the community for many years.

Services will be held in the chapel at the Green Valley Mortuary, 18751 S. La Canada, Sahuarita, AZ on October 1 at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Jerome to the Long Grove Fire Protection District (LGFPD), 1165 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove, IL 60047 Attn: Karyn Rios.
