Janet
Bode
d. Jan 8, 2020
Ruth Janet Kreider Bode, 94, of Green Valley passed away January 8, 2020.
Janet was born July 18, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to parents Harry C. and Bessie (Wells) Kreider, who preceeded her in death along with her brothers Edward, who passed in 2019, and Dale, who was killed in WWII.
She attended Colonel White middle school and Fairview High School, graduating in 1943. Her first job was with Veteran's Affairs (Veteran's Administration) in Dayton.
Janet met her husband, Bill, at a roller rink on wheels in Dayton and they both skated into their sixties, and remained married for an amazing 72 years! After living a few years in Dayton, they moved to the Tipp City, Ohio area where they raised two boys, Lee and Michael. They lived in the Tipp City area until moving to Green Valley in 1980. Janet also worked at Wright Patterson AFB in Fairborn, Ohio, and later at Sears in Dayton (Salem Mall) and Piqua, Ohio, where she specialized in fence proposals.
Bill and Janet were members of Grace UMC in Dayton before joining the Green Valley Community Church (now United Methodist Church of Green Valley) upon moving to Arizona. Janet ushered for more than 10 years and was an active member of the prayer chain.
One of Janet's joys was volunteering at Santa Rita Nursing Home, which she did for more than 25 years. During that time she was named volunteer of the year 3 times, earned the Paragon Award in 2006, and was recognized by KGUN9 for her years of volunteerism.
Janet is survived by her husband, Bill, sons Lee of Tucson, and Michael (Penny) of Lincoln, NE, two granddaughters, and 3 great-granddaughters.
The family wishes to thank Southern Arizona Elder Care for their years of service to both Janet and Bill.
Services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020, with Rev. Jerry Haas and Rev. Dr. Ken Bensen officiating. An internment service will be held at 2 PM at Green Valley Cemetery, and a memorial service will follow at 3 PM at United Methodist Church of Green Valley..
