James Allan Kuhn, January 21, 1942 -October 1, 2023

Jim passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at Peppi's House Hospice Care in Tucson, Arizona on October 1, 2023 at the age of 81.

Jim was born in East St. Louis, Missouri, on January 21, 1942 to Catherine and Edgar Kuhn. The family moved to Detroit, Michigan when Jim was very young and he grew up there with his three brothers, Ron, Jack (Kenneth), and Kelly(Walter). The boys played baseball together, and were big fans of the Detroit Tigers. Jim attended Southeastern High School, and joined the Air Force when he was 18.

In the Air Force, he became an aircraft technician and traveled all over the world on many assignments. Some of the many places included England, Spain, Germany, Iceland, Taiwan, Okinawa, Japan, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Guam. He served in air support for the war in Vietnam while stationed in Thailand for a year. He flew into typhoons in the South Pacific as flight crew for weather support.

He met his wife, Karen, in 1963 while he was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were married for 49 years before she passed away in 2012. They had two daughters, Darla and Deanne.

Jim and his family moved to Arizona in 1977. He decided to leave the Air Force while he was here, and made Tucson his home. He worked for a variety of aircraft companies in aircraft maintenance management, including Continental Airlines, which meant that he moved away several times to places like Guam, Houston, Panama, and China, but he always returned. After 9/11, he permanently retired from the airline industry and moved to Green Valley.

Jim took great pride in all of his children and grandchildren, and he attended soccer games and school plays. He regularly enjoyed family road trips all over the United States, and stayed in close contact with his extended family and the many friends he had met along his travels.

Jim survived a nearly fatal car crash in 2013, that left his body permanently damaged, but he didn't let that stop him. The accident had renewed his faith in God, and given him a new hope for the future.

In 2015, he met Marion, who became his wife and new partner in adventures. Hawaii was their special place, and they traveled there many times, as well as other places around the country.

Jim had exuberant sense of humor, and he loved to tell his crazy, colorful stories to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed spicy food, and kept a special fondness for Michigan sports teams, always watching the Lions play on Thanksgiving. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his laughter and his smile.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen, his parents, and his three brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Marion, his daughters, Darla Andreacola (Chris), and Deanne Taggart (Mike), his stepsons, Tom Cardone (Kim), Steven Cardone (Claudia), 10 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

A memorial service was held at a private residence on October 6.
