In Loving Memory of James Edward Ansley

Missile Technician Chief Petty Officer, Submarine Service United States Navy (Retired)

James “Jim” Edward Ansley, 72, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away on October 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1994, as a Missile Technician Chief Petty Officer (MTC). Throughout his distinguished naval career, he exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment. He served aboard the USS James Madison, USS James Monroe, USS Ohio, and USS Michigan. He was also a plank owner of the USS Ohio, a distinction recognizing those who were part of the ship’s original commissioning crew.

While his military service was an important part of his identity, Jim’s greatest legacy was the family he loved and the lives he touched along the way.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jim shared 46 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia, whom he married in 1980. He took great pride in his children, Michael, Melissa, and Jennifer, and cherished his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Jim enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, whether traveling the country in his RV, setting sail on a cruise, spending time playing computer games, good bourbon, Sam Adam’s Oktoberfest or simply enjoying the company of his family. He especially loved the freedom and adventure of traveling, making memories and enjoying new experiences along the way. But above all else, Jim had one priority that surpassed all others: keeping his beloved wife, Patty, happy. It was a mission he embraced wholeheartedly throughout their 46 years together.

Jim will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his proud service to his country, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His memory will live on through the generations of family he leaves behind.

He was proceeded in death by his father James Everett Ansley, mother Vera Belle Ansley and sister Denise Ansley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his children, Michael(Krysti), Melissa(John), and Jennifer(Christopher); his 10 grandchildren (Jacob, Tyler, Zackary, Nathaniel, Jasmine, Octavious, Parker, Johnathan, Victoria, and Everett); his 2 great-grandchildren (Jakoby and Owen) ; his sister Deborah Guevara; his stepmother Judith Welch and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery on November 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Jim lived a life marked by service, dedication, adventure, and love for his family. Although he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue through the family and friends who loved him.

Fair winds and following seas, Chief. We have the watch.
