Obituary

Jackie (Monson) Klimpel
May 29, 1942 – December 8, 2025

Jackie Klimpel, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born in Williston, North Dakota, on May 29, 1942, Jackie was the daughter of Fred and Tressie (Bergh) Monson. She grew up with four siblings: Fred Jr., Dorothy Berce, Betty Powell, and Beverly Snyder. Jackie graduated from Trinity Nursing School in Minot, ND, and dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, for nearly 30 years. Her compassion and skill brought comfort to countless patients during challenging times.

On August 30, 1964, Jackie married Roger Klimpel at First Lutheran Church in Williston. Together they raised one daughter, Tanya. Jackie loved volunteering, especially during the holidays, and spent several hours baking pies and serving meals at the Gift of Life Transplant House. Known for her warm hospitality, she filled her home with wonderful food, love, and laughter for all who visited.

After retiring in 2000, Jackie and Roger enjoyed traveling, cruising, and wintering in Green Valley, AZ. Following Roger's passing, Jackie spent winters and moved to Green Valley full-time in 2022, where she continued to embrace life with joy and friendship. She loved playing card games, tackling Sudoku puzzles, cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, reading, cooking, hosting dinner parties, and enjoying happy hours with friends and family. She traveled to all 50 states and was always ready to go to the casino or play bingo.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her parents Fred and Tressie Monson, brother Fred Monson Jr., and sisters Beverly Snyder and Dorothy Berce. She is survived by her daughter Tanya Klimpel and son-in-law Don Powers, sister Betty Powell, sister-in-law Virginia (Klimpel) Walsh and brother-in-law Duane Walsh, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. A special thank you goes to her close friend Jan Williams, who played countless games of Skip-Bo and gave companionship during Jackie's final months.

A Celebration of Life will be held in early March in Green Valley, AZ, honoring Jackie's wish for plenty of beer, wine, and laughter. A private burial will take place later in the summer in Minot, ND, where she will be laid to rest beside Roger.

Jackie's kindness, generosity, love for her family and friends, and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew her.
