Jack L. Maddox, age 86, passed away on April 8, 2026, at his home in Green Valley, Arizona, with his wife, Pam,  and his son, Mark, at his side.

He was born in Hays, Kansas, to Howard L. and Leila E. Maddox on June 25, 1939. He graduated from Hoisington  Rural High School in 1958 and received a BS in Industrial Arts from Fort Hays Kansas State College in May 1965.

After college, he started working for the Boeing Company and moved to the Pacific Northwest. In 1981, he married Pam Ledbetter and they lived on Whidbey Island. He retired from Boeing in 1995, after which they moved to  central Oregon.

Jack had a wide variety of interests and was always following the next project. He had a lifelong interest in  woodworking, traditional boatbuilding, and antiques. In the PNW, he participated in rock climbing and  mountaineering.

After retirement, he loved to travel in his RV with his wife, Pam. They traveled extensively in the western United  States. He participated in Cowboy Action Shooting and enjoyed all aspects of the western cowboy lifestyle. While  living in New Mexico, he enjoyed Green Chile and learned to create many dishes with it. When he moved to Green  Valley, Arizona, he developed his passion for photography, using it to depict the western cowboy lifestyle. His love  of antiques also led him to collecting and restoring Skookum dolls.

Jack is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, Mark (Jennifer) Maddox; his daughter, Jessie (Ron) Mui; granddaughter, Lacey Spalding; grandson, Zac Spalding; and his sister, Vicki Kelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard L. and Leila E. Maddox, and his brother, Monty Maddox. Cremation has occurred and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Jack's attitude towards life is exemplified in the quote he used in every email: "Growing old is mandatory, growing  up is optional..." His optimism, his enthusiasm for life, and his ready smile will be forever missed.
