It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helene Feldman, of Tubac AZ, on 8/20/25.

Helene Charlotte Feldman (Snyder) was born in the Bronx on April 17, 1939 to Sylvia and Robert Snyder.  She was their only child.  The family moved to Cleveland OH where Robert worked as a movie representative.  Helene attended then graduated from Ohio State University in Columbus with a Bachelor's in Education and taught for two years, then married Laurence Feldman on July 7th 1963.  The couple moved to Tucson, AZ where Helene taught in the Tucson school district while Laurence finished his degree at the University of Arizona.  After Laurence's graduation, the couple moved to Ann Arbour, Michigan for Laurence's graduate degree and then moved to New Haven, CT where Helene taught at the preschool at Yale University.  The couple's first child, Melissa Feldman was born on January 30, 1969.
In 1976, the family moved to Amherst, MA and her second daughter, Laura Feldman was born on March 30,1976. Helene then began teaching at Fort River Elementary school and transitioned to a school librarian.

For 20 years, Helene's love of reading to children blossomed.  She made and kept many friendships with her colleagues from this elementary school, some becoming life-long friends.  While in Amherst, she kept an active social life, loved shopping, planting flowers and being an active member of Hadassah where she was both the treasurer and president of the local chapter. As a member she loved volunteering especially wrapping presents for holidays at the local mall.

Laurence and Helene moved to Tucson AZ in 2005 and later Tubac to retire.  She kept herself active by volunteering at the Tubac Center for the Arts, the local Presidio and the Montessori school.  The couple had been members of Beth Shalom Temple in Green Valley, AZ where Helene participated in many events and became the treasurer.

Helene was an ever-remarkable woman who lifted the spirits of those with whom she came in contact.  Her strength continues to guide her family's path as does her selflessness.  Her care for others was inspiring.  All those who knew her remember her for her cheerfulness, thoughtfulness and zest for life.  She will be forever in our hearts.  Helene leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Laurence Feldman currently residing in Arizona. Her daughters, Melissa Feldman of Springfield, MA and Laura Feldman of Somerville, MA; her son-in-law Jonathan Mitchell and her one happy granddaughter, Sadie May Feldman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hadassah in her memory.
