Gary Sage, a disciple of Jesus, was born on February 17, 1937, and went to meet the LORD on April 1, 2024. He is survived by his wife Janice, his son Roger, daughter Sara, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Gary was born in Bedford, Iowa to Roger Sage and Edith (Goff) Sage. Gary grew up in Clarinda, Iowa. He had great friends that he remained close to his entire life. He began his relationship with Jesus by attending the Presbyterian Church with his sister Judy and was baptized in third grade. He has always been able to talk to people about Jesus.

Gary moved to California in 1956 after the sudden death of his father, bringing his mother Edith Sage and sister Judy later that year.

After serving in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962, he returned to San Francisco and spent his career working as a computer consultant and MIS Manager on some of the first computers.

He was proud of becoming a Lutheran, as he joined Zion Lutheran Church on his 20th birthday. He met Janice Glessner, a teacher in the church's school. Their marriage of 60 years began on August 15, 1964.

Gary's love for Christ grew when he and Jan raised Sara and Roger in the Christian Faith. Jesus was always front and center of their home life. Whether it was reading devotions together or leading high school bible studies in fun and creative ways, Gary made sure to encourage both his children and their friends in the LORD.

Gary and Jan always enjoyed camping and spent many nights by the campfire with both their children and grandchildren. After retiring Gary and Jan traveled the country in their RV sharing the love of our LORD with Harvesters for Christ leading others in discipleship through workshops and praying for people they met.

It brought Gary joy to know his children continued this legacy of faith in the raising of their children. Sharing Christ and discussing theology with his family, especially his grandchildren, was a highlight of the time spent
together.

Wherever Gary landed or traveled, be it Iowa, California, Michigan, Texas, or Arizona, he was always looking for ways to be sure others knew Jesus loved them. He shared this love through Bible Studies, putting Bibles in the hands of others, witnessing on college campuses, and passing out bracelets to anyone he met in his daily life. Telling others God loved them so much that He died for them so they may have eternal life was of the utmost importance to Gary and we know he would want others to continue boldly sharing the love of Jesus as he did.

Gary died in the knowledge that Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life as Jesus said, "The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."

His one passion in life was promoting that message to others so they too may live.
