Obituary

Florence "Flo" Lucille Anderson, 92, of Green Valley, Arizona, formerly of Quincy, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Flo was born on December 22, 1932, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to Gladys L. and Franklin C. Andrews. She married Fredrick J. Anderson on December 26, 1952, at First Baptist Church in Fort Madison, Iowa. Their 68 years of marraige was filled with love and humor with many memories of travel, and a strong family commitment.

Flo had a zest for life. For many years, she was an active member of the Gem City Rock Club. She was an avid rockhound and enjoyed teaching children about geology and sharing her collection. To her grandchildren and their friends, she was known as "Crazy Grandma" for her silly humor and mischievous smile. She had an open-door policy and loved feeding her grandchildren and their friends, specializing in Oreos, chocolate cake, milkshakes and cookie dough, anytime day or night. The kids remember her for her dancing, jokes, and letting them watch the movie "Tremors".

Flo worked for many years as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, until her retirement.

Survivors include four children; Mark Anderson of Quincy, IL, Sharon Anderson of Green Valley, AZ, Kyle (Rossy) Anderson of Green Valley, AZ, and Kathy (Vaughn) Flesner of Payson, IL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Quest (Amanda) Flesner, Dakota (Michael) Lafferty, Harlee (Emery) Gronewold, Hunter (fiancé Audrey) Flesner, Brekken (fiancé Dalton) Flesner, Kamryn Flesner, and Gabriel Anderson. Additionally, Flo is survived by nine great-grandchildren: Corbitt and Baby Flesner, Vice, Vaya, and Venn Lafferty, Waylon, Ren, and Velvalee Gronewold, Roman Flesner, brother-in-law Dwight (Mary Lou)Anderson, and her faithful dog Mickee 3.

Flo was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick J. Anderson, her parents, and three siblings, Guy Johnston, Merle Johnston, and Shirley Darr. She was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Hazel Flesner, her best friend, Hazel Kuntz and son-in-law John Langhorne.
