Dorothy L. Mayfield's Obituary
Dorothy L. Mayfield of Green Valley passed away Nov. 8, 2016 of natural causes. Born Aug. 29, 1929, in New Kensington, PA, she lived in Green Valley for 15 years.
Dorothy was a lifetime educator, Korean War veteran, community volunteer, dear friend, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children Brian and wife Julia, Latrice, Jeffrey and wife Keli, and Carol; grandchildren Rodney, Derrick, Lauren, Robert, Dorian, Jaime, Michelle, Lillian and Olivia; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Riley.
Dorothy was an indomitable personality, with an infectious laugh and wisdom beyond her years. She loved painting, world travel and Scrabble. Loved by all, Dorothy was a down-to-earth individual who had a genuine connection with all her family, friends and animals. Her spiritual strength, self-confidence and humanitarianism will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be truly missed and her spirit will live on through all who love her.
