Donald L.
Wiemann
Jul 9, 1939 — Jan 26, 2021
Donald L Wiemann, age 81, of Green Valley, AZ, (formerly of Nimrod, MN,) passed away on January 26, 2021 at the Tucson VA Medical Center.
Don was born July 9, 1939 in LaMoure, North Dakota to Thomas and Samantha (Brademeyer) Wiemann. He grew up on the family farm with his 10 siblings. He enjoyed all the activities on the farm and the love of farming remained in his heart always. He was an outgoing and happy man. Always willing to assist others.
He followed in his older brothers' footsteps and joined the Navy in July of 1956. While on leave in 1959, he was in an accident which led to an honorable discharge due to disability.
One night at the Black Cat Club he met Arylene Chellis. They had a whirlwind romance and on August 27, 1960, they got married. They raised three children, Michele, Anthony and Daniel and took them on an annual two-week vacation. Some of the highlights were trips to the World's Fair in Spokane, drive around Lake Superior, road trip to the Gulf of Mexico, and even a hardware convention in Phoenix. He was an involved father and always proud of his children.
Don used his mechanical gifts maintaining production equipment for a variety of companies. He also realized a lifelong dream to own his own hardware store (Gambles, LeCenter, MN). His career path eventually led him to facility management at JCPenney and Hennepin County before retiring.
Don could fix ANYTHING. He took great pride in fixing and remodeling his properties. He had side jobs repairing small engines and installing air conditioners. Sons Tony and Dan were often by his side assisting and he taught them what he knew. He loved to be outside and to hunt and fish and garden. He spent many hours on his tractor on his property in Nimrod, MN.
After Arylene passed away in 2013, Don was lucky to fnd love again and married Ruth Maloblocki in 2015. They spent their winters in Green Valley and their summers in Minnesota or traveling across the country with their recreational trailer.
Don is survived by his wife, Ruth; children: Michele (Tom Wettlaufer), Tony, Dan (Joleen); grandchildren: Josh (Molly), Tyler (Katie), Kyle (Carrie), Tori, Blake, Lily; great grandchildren: Maddie, Jack, Austin, Rosie, Carson, Andrew and Leah; siblings: Lauretta (Bob) Becker and Ken (Mary Jane) Wiemann; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Samantha Wiemann; his first wife: Arylene; and siblings: Thomas Wiemann, Margaret Smith, Beatrice Ness, Jeanette Wiemann, Gen Bates, Bill Wiemann, Bob Wiemann, Kathy Gardiner.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Disabled American Veterans https://www.ihelpveterans.org or to a charity of the donor's choice.
