Dion D Brockett passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2025. Dion was born in Lincoln, Kansas on September 30, 1937 to James and Minniedell Brockett. When he was 6 months old, the family moved to Denver, Colorado escaping the severe Kansas dust storms of that day.
Following his childhood and teen years in North Denver, Dion spent 4 years serving his country in the Air Force, Army and Air National Guard. After returning home, Dion met and promptly married Susie Knipfer and they spent the next 4 years producing 3 most outstanding sons, Benjamin, James and Vincent.
Dion used his G.I. benefits to attain an A&P license and began his career as an airplane mechanic at Frontier Airlines. After Frontier failed, Dion finished up his career at Alaska Airlines in Seattle. However, not satisfied with the retired life, he contracted with Blue Origin to build rocket ships for 3 years. Sue liked to introduce him as her "Rocket Scientist" husband. The 2 finally actually retired to Sahuarita, Arizona in 2011 where Dion poured himself into volunteer work with his church and the Sahuarita Police Department.
Some of Dion's hobbies in his 87 years of life included fishing on the Big Thompson River, bicycling the Colorado mountains, building and racing sprint cars, woodworking, racquetball, and finally pickleball with many wonderful people at Rancho Resort.
Dion is survived by his wife Sue of 65 years, two sons, Ben and Vince, their wives and children, and a host of loving family members and friends.
