Diane passed away in her sleep on May 9, 2025. She was placed in hospice care in January and spent nearly 100% of the time bedridden as she could not see or stand up. She suffered from a myriad of ailments stemming from breast cancer and never complained.

Diane was the firstborn to Bernard and Della Shaw on August 8, 1940. She grew up in West Bremerton and was a product of the Bremerton School District graduating from West High School with the class of 1958. She received her Associates of Arts degree from Culver City College. Diane worked for the Navy Exchange in England and Lemoore, California. She married Ensign Michael Madden On Jun 24, 1961. Diane first met Michael in the orchestra of Coontz Junior High School in 1952, Diane loved playing the piano and quickly became very accomplished on school orchestras and church services. Diane was a very dedicated Navy wife for 23 years living in Hawaii, California, Georgia, Florida, and Washington. She singlehandedly raised the two Madden children, 'Ross and Todd while her husband spent nearly 13 years deployed on aircraft carriers all over the world.

Later, Diane managed the Belfair branch of Mason County Federal Credit Union and Loan Officer with Kitsap Federal Credit Union. Her final employment was as a Sales Associate with John L 'Scott and Reid Realty. Michael and Diane moved to Green Valley, Arizona in 2016 to enjoy retirement in the sunshine. Diane was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and suffered a stroke during treatment In spite of many other ailments, she remained a strong christian trooper until the end.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bernard and Della and sister Sally Ann. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Michael, Green Valley, AZ, Brother Bernard, sister Jennifer, Bremerton, son Ross and wife Marjorie, Bremerton, and son Todd Los Angeles Including three grandsons, one granddaughter, and two great grandsons. A Memorial will be held at Kitsap Country Club on August 10 at 2pm.
