Shirley Presley passed away on July 4th, 2016 after a brief illness at the age of 81. She was born on December 22, 1934 in Tulsa, OK to parents Roy L. Deaton and Ethelene Deaton. Shirley graduated from Tulsa Central High in 1952 and attended Oklahoma State University and The University of Tulsa. She met Clyde Joseph Presley at The University of Tulsa and they were married on June 1st, 1955. Joe and Shirley started their married life together in Centralia, IL then moved to Evansville, IN where their oldest daughter, Patty was born. From Evansville they moved to Pampa, TX where their youngest daughter, Audrey was born. Fortunately, they were then transferred back to Tulsa, OK where they were able to spend many years with family and friends before moving to Sydney Australia. In Sydney, Shirley and Joe took up golf...in part because they lived across the street from a golf course. After a brief stay in the Philadelphia area they were then transferred to Billings, MT where they were both very involved in the community.
Shirley was a devoted mother to her daughters, a devoted wife to Joe and a devoted grandma to her grandchildren. She spent countless hours playing chauffeur to her daughters for sporting events, Girl Scouts, shopping, lunches...the list goes on and on. Shirley volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Vincent's hospital in Billings for many, many years. She was a Cub Scout leader at the Tulsa Boys Home for a number of years which proved to be a wonderful experience for her daughters who became honorary Cub Scouts. After her daughters were out of school, Shirley became an avid golfer and was the President of The Yellowstone Country Club Women's Golf Association. When Joe retired, Shirley and Joe became snowbirds spending time in Green Valley, AZ and Billings, MT. The perfect scenario. Golf year round! She loved spending time with both daughters and grandchildren who live in Billings and in Arizona. Shirley and Joe were members of the Desert Hills Golf Club in Green Valley. Shirley had many hobbies and was incredibly talented at everything she set out to do.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Ethelene Deaton, brothers Henry & William Deaton and sister Nancy Deaton Patterson. She is survived by her husband Joe Presley of Green Valley, AZ, daughters Patty Presley; (Paul Miller) of Sahuarita, AZ, Audrey Presley Kaercher; (Tracy) grandchildren Riley and Braydee of Billings, MT and many wonderful friends. She is also survived by her beloved dog Bella and 4 grand-dogs who already miss her loving rubs and her generous treaties.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to be made to The Animal League of Green Valley, AZ. At the request of Shirley there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
