Constance Dent Rietschel, age 78, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away on September 25, 2025. She had been in hospice care at the Villas at Green Valley. Connie was born in Oklahoma City on January 12, 1947, the daughter of Harry and Pauline Dent (nee Turk). She graduated from Richardson High School, Richardson, Texas, in 1965 and won a National Merit Scholarship. Her manual dexterity was not confined to playing piano and organ, but also allowed her to compete in interstate competition in typing while in high school, for which she was awarded a Scholastic jacket, like the members of the football team received.

She attended North Texas State University, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and graduated from the University of New Orleans, where she received her bachelor's degree with a triple major in math, computer science, and social science. She worked as a computer programmer for American National Life Insurance Company, the University of California San Francisco, the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Emory University, Lyke's Shipping, Gulf Systems, and LAMMICO, where she ran the information technology department.

She married Robert L. Rietschel on September 3, 1966, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Richardson, Texas, Rev. Virgil Meyer presiding. Yes, they were high school sweethearts. They are members of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Tucson, Arizona. Their 59-year marriage included two children, Eric Lee Rietschel and Penny Anne Rietschel, and two grandchildren, Haley Noel Rietschel and Ava Grace Rietschel.

Visitation will be at the Garden of Memories, Metairie, Louisiana, on October 4th , 2025, from Noon until 2 pm. Service to follow at Garden of Memories, Rev. John Ramsey of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
