Virginia Christine Aguilar, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Sahuarita, Arizona with her loving husband Marco and daughter Paige by her side, on August 28, 2024. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family.

Christine was born on March 20, 1949, in Albia, Iowa to Robert (Bob) W. Smith & Virginia (Morgan) Smith. She is survived by her loving husband, Marco Aguilar, married 51 years, and their children, J. Paige Montoya, E. Preston Aguilar, Krisant Aguilar, & Analiese Vasquez. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren; Ilias, Bainen & Savannah Montoya; Ethan, Adam, & Evan Aguilar; Jackson Aguilar; Jalen & Riley Vasquez. She is also survived by her brother Andrew Smith, and sister Julie (Anderson) Smith, son-in-laws Joey Montoya, and Gary Vasquez; daughter-in-laws Jennifer Aguilar & Erin Aguilar.

Christine grew up in Albia, Iowa and graduated in 1967.  Her passion growing up always included art and music. She met her husband Marco at the University of Arizona and within a few months were married to have a beautiful marriage of 51 years. They raised their 4 children in Southern California where she found a church home at Church of the Good Shepherd in Arcadia, California. She went on to be heavily involved with the church, including singing in the church choir, where her family and others got to experience her angelic voice. She also worked for years with the United Methodist Church, only to eventually move back to Arizona in the 1990s. She attended the University of Arizona to finish her schooling and graduate in 2000 with a degree in Fine Arts. Thereafter, she continued her passion & gift of art and went on to create hundreds of beautiful watercolor and oil paintings, drawings, and etchings. She also continued to work for years at the University of Arizona Museum of Art.

Anyone who knew Christine was always greeted with her beautiful, warm smile. She always made everyone feel so welcome in her home and would open it to anybody who needed it. Her love for her husband & her family was always quite evident. She will be greatly missed, but her journey is not over. She is up in heaven with Jesus & singing with the Angels for all eternity.

Memorial services will be held Saturday September 7 at 2 PM at Green Valley Mortuary services in Sahuarita, Arizona at 18751 S La Canada Drive Sahuarita, AZ 85629
