Charlotte
Maio
Aug 15, 1939 — Aug 22, 2022
Charlotte (Fazio) Maio, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August
22, 2022.
She was born August 15, 1939 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Salvatore and Mary (Coletti) Fazio.
Charlotte attended Bishop Kenrick high school where she participated in many activities and made many
lifelong friends. It is also where she met her husband of 61 years, James Maio.
Charlotte devoted a significant part of her life to raising her children and maintaining a loving home for
her family. Through good times and hardships and family moves to various parts of the country, her
devotion and conviction remained constant, and family remained her primary focus.
Charlotte was an excellent cook, stressing the importance of maintaining the traditions of her (and
James') Italian ancestry. With her guidance, her children carry on the same traditions. She spoke fondly
of her and James' family members, and maintained close contact with all of them. Charlotte enjoyed
traveling, taking numerous trips with her family over the years. Most notable was a trip to Italy to visit
the cities and towns of her ancestors.
As her typing and transcription skills were exceptional, Charlotte was a valued asset to the various
medical professionals who were lucky enough to employ her as a medical secretary.
In retirement, Charlotte and James settled in Green Valley, Arizona, fulfilling a long time dream of theirs.
She came to know the southwest very well and loved hosting visiting family members and friends, and
serving as tour guide.
Charlotte leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, James Maio, her four children, Debbie Cabot
(Chip) of New Mexico, James Maio Jr. of Arizona, Lyn Fioravanti (Brian) of Massachusetts, and David
Maio of Arizona. She also leaves her four cherished grandchildren, Michael, Kaitlin, Cara, and Steven.
Charlotte will be missed by her sister Rosalie Leddy (PA) and Joe Fazio (FL), and many nieces and
nephews. Charlotte was predeceased by her sisters Marie Cowan and Zita DeJohn and brother John
Fazio.
A mass will celebrate Charlotte on Friday, August 26 th at 10:00 a.m. at her parish, Our Lady of the Valley,
in Green Valley.
Charlotte and James supported many missions and donations can be made in her name to one of their
favorites, St. Jude.
