Bruce R Andersen of Haven Care Facility in Green Valley, AZ, passed away on April 7, 2025. Bruce was born on August 17, 1953 to Gorden & Ruth Andersen of West Bend, Iowa. He was the 3rd child of their five; Steve (Cinde), Chery (Gene), Bruce (Kathy) Tom (Jan), & Nancy (Bob). He is survived by his wife, Kathy and their two sons Jeremiah (Ivy) and three granddaughters, Cecilia, Elsa, & Evie Andersen, and younger son Joshua (Andrea) Andersen all of Colorado, as well as Steve, Cheryl, and Nancy their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce grew up working after school at local businesses in West Bend; his parent's hardware store, the grocery store, and grain elevator. He learned to repair windows & screens, organize, and mix well with people. Before the local swimming pool was built, he rode a bus 10 miles to Whittemore for swimming with his buddies with money he earned each week.

He attended the local high school and Mankato State University before settling in Spencer, Iowa to work in a local glass business. In 1978 he moved his family to Algona, Iowa where he opened the first glass company in Algona and named it after the town. He had a solid work ethic and dynamic personality, creating a successful business with his wife, Kathy for 38 years until their retirement. Bruce enjoyed people and was involved in many roles including Rotary President, Fair Board Member, Iowa Glass Dealers Assoc. President, & President of the Ruthven Sanitation Board where their summer & full time home was located after retirement.

Upon travelling to their winter destination of Green Valley, AZ in 2023, Bruce's health determined they stay. While there, he celebrated 50 years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Kathy in 2024.

Through the years Bruce enjoyed learning to fly a Cessna 152 with his brother and sister- in -law who managed the local airport. He loved music, especially the Allman Brothers. Saturday nights were fast paced, dusty, loud & fun with the couples partnership and sponsorship of a local stock car. He had a passion for golfing & playing Euchre with the guys at the club, fishing, boating, and hunting with his wife, sons, relatives, and friends. His three granddaughters were so very special to him. He would take them tubing with the boat around the lake and go what they thought was lightning speed while they shrieked with laughter. Through the years he considered buying another red 67 GTO like the one the couple adventured in before they were married, but eventually decided to restore the 53 Chevy pickup that once belonged to his father-in-law, and that he'd seen his wife driving as a teenager. Bruce had a strong love for God, life & people. He excelled, shared freely, inspired, and gifted good humor to others.

You brought so much to all of us. You'll be missed by so many until we all meet again. A private family ceremony will be held at Green Valley Mortuary & Cemetery, Green Valley, AZ on a date to be determined.
