Barbara Jane Brose was born in Marion, Kansas and moved to Oregon with her mother, Faith and sister Jean when she was a young woman.  She went to high school in Portland, Oregon and upon graduation enrolled in what was then known OCE (Oregon College of Education) and currently recognized today as Western Oregon College.  While studying for her degree she met and started dating Theodore R. Hoover and eventually married him on August 13th, 1949.

Soon thereafter the newlyweds relocated to Fossil, Oregon where they both taught at the local high school.  Career advancements took them to Langlois, Oregon where they both were teachers and while in Langlois they'd welcomed three children, John, Richard (Dick) and Mary. Relocating from Langlois to Sheridan, then Garden Home and on to Paisley, finally settling down in Arlington where Barbara was the High School Librarian. As librarian she felt her mission was to censor any articles from magazines she felt offensive, so there were always pages missing. She then went back to school to receive her Masters degree in Library Science and soon thereafter they returned to Sheridan until retirement. Upon retirement they moved to a Farm in Irrigon Oregon. In 1989 following the sudden loss of her husband Ted, Barbara moved to Portland to be near her family.  Spending winters in Green Valley Arizona, Barbara met Joseph Mac Chesnover and they eventually married. Her final years were spent in Green Valley where she and "Mac" shared a permanent residence. She is preceded in death by her Husband Theodore R Hoover and Daughter Mary LF Hoover.

Barbara was born the year of Mickey Mouse and loved going to Disneyland, in fact on her 70 th birthday she took her entire family for a week to Disneyland. She enjoyed travelling and seeing new things from the Fall Foliage on the East Coast to Victoria BC. She was game for whatever adventure was offered.

She loved card games, her favorite being Bridge, she would host Bridge parties that would last for hours and not have her fill. She enjoyed Blackjack as well, dealing was her favorite.

She was very much committed to her family, sometimes traveling hours to watch a grandchild's athletic event, performance or concert. She would call her children and grandchildren every year on their birthdays and sing happy birthday to them or their voicemail for them to listen to later.

Surviving family includes her husband Joseph, her son, Jahn, his son Jason and daughter Paris. Son Richard (Dick) his son William and daughters Natalie and Michelle and Mary's daughter Ashley and son Zack. In addition to one Great-Grandson Casper.

Her absence from future family gatherings will be sorely missed and felt.
