Iacoponi
Mar 7, 1932 — Jul 14, 2022
Green Valley
Tony (Anthony) Iacoponi passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the age of 90. His wife of 66 years, Helen Iacoponi (nee Bonacker) was by his side.
Tony was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1932. He was the youngest of four children of Mario Iacoponi and Angela Iacono.
Tony graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, New Jersey and earned a degree in Civil Engineering in 1954 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and ran cross country. It was there that he met his loving wife, Helen. They were married in 1956 and then moved to Frankfurt, Germany as Tony served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
After returning to the U.S. after his Army tour of duty, Tony had a long and distinguished career in the construction industry in New York and New Jersey.
He and Helen were longtime residents of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. After retirement, they moved to Naples, Florida, and several years ago to Green Valley, Arizona.
Tony loved his family above all else. He was a faith-filled man, a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football, curious about everything, an avid rock collector and lover of life. He loved to travel and has instilled that love of travel on his family. He was always involved in his family's sports and recreation activities, community, and social justice causes.
Tony is survived by his wife Helen, seven children: James (Deborah) Iacoponi, Celanire (Kirk) Flagg, John (Renee Taliana) Iacoponi, Joe Iacoponi (Duane Mah), Elizabeth (Michael) DiFrancisco, David Iacoponi, and Deborah (John) Worden, and seventeen treasured grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony's memory to a charity of your choice.
