Obituary

Angel Gomez Estrada, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2022, surrounded by his family after a recent ALS diagnosis. He was 68 years old. Angel was a generous and kind soul who will be dearly missed.

He is the 8 th of 12 children, born in Tucson, Arizona to Alicia and Roberto Estrada on January 19th, 1954. He graduated from Sahuarita High School in 1972 and shortly thereafter began his career in concrete. Angel worked for over 40 years pouring and finishing concrete throughout Southern Arizona. He was a skilled craftsman with a work ethic that few could match. To watch him at work was to watch an artist. The trowel was his brush, and the slab his canvas.

Angel was an inherently loving man. He was handsome, kind, warm, and muy cariñoso. He would greet you with a beautiful smile, soft and gentle eyes, and his goodbye always included a bendicion y un fuerte abrazo. Friends and family describe him as a man who could never say no to someone in need, and he often put others before himself. It was one of the ways he demonstrated his love and commitment to those around him. Angel moved with grace. Whether at work, on the dance floor, or pitching horseshoes, he could make hard things look easy to do. He had an infectious laugh that could instantly lighten a room. He expressed his joy for life through his actions and those around him felt loved in his presence.

Angel was a man of God and of strong faith and dedicated his life to his family. His sons describe him as, "The greatest father and tata, ever". Angel will be remembered as a wonderful son, a loyal brother, a loving Tio, and a faithful friend.

Angel is survived by his two sons, David (Andrea) Estrada, and Angel (Toni) Estrada; six grandchildren, Marisela Estrada, Angel Estrada, Antonio Estrada, R.J. Montijo, Sofia Estrada, and Kylie Estrada; six brothers, Ramon (Rosa) Estrada, Jaime Estrada, Armando Estrada, Gerardo (Isabel) Estrada, Ricardo (Liz) Estrada, Hector (Sylvia) Estrada; four sisters, Maria (Ernie) Estrada, Olga Gonzales, Alicia (Eddie) Sambrano, Teresa (Richard) Estrada; MANY nieces and nephews, and countless extended family, and friends.
