A. Peter Schultheiss died peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2022. He was 94 years old. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Dorie Schultheiss and his two children, Karen Cadle of Valpariso, Indiana and Maribeth Jezek of Austin, Texas; his step-children, Bradley J. Butz of Cork, Ireland, Laurie Wingender of Jacksonville, Florida, and Sara Lancaster of Phoenix, Arizona; and foster daughter Florina Saladin of Zurich, Switzerland. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Peter was born in Berlin, Germany on December 25, 1927. He was  drafted into the Luftwaffenhelfer in 1942 at age 14, served in the  German Navy for a short time towards the end of World War II. He  rejoined his parents in Erfurt, Germany (the Russian sector) after the  War ended. Then the family relocated to West Germany during the Berlin Air Lift of 1948. Peter attended college in Frankfurt and at the  University of Karlsruhe, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering.

He visited the United States on a visa in 1954 and applied for a green card six months later, becoming a US citizen in 1964. He lived in the  Chicago area for a few years before a job search took him to Iowa City, Iowa, where he worked as Vice President of Engineering at Oral-B. Peter continued in that position after the acquisition of Oral-B by The  Gillette Company in 1984. He retired from Gillette in 1990 and moved to Green Valley, AZ.

Peter loved traveling with Dorie more than anything, they visited many countries all over the world on both business and pleasure. He enjoyed driving with Dorie in the United States. They fell in love with the Arizona desert and knew from as early as the 1970's that that is where he  wanted to retire.

To all who knew him, Peter will be remembered as a kind, intellectually curious individual with a global worldview and a wonderful sense of  humor. He will be missed.
